RNBA: Empowering Tribal Communities

Founded in 1985, RNBA is a dedicated grassroots organization working to uplift the lives of indigenous tribal communities across Manipur, Nagaland, and Assam. Our mission is to protect eco-cultures, bolster livelihoods, and address critical challenges such as natural resource management, land rights, and education.

With a strong focus on Livelihood, Capacity Building & Skills Development, Agro-ecology, and Renewable Energy, RNBA is committed to being a champion for marginalized groups, especially the fourteen minor tribes of Manipur. Together, we are building resilient communities and fostering sustainable development in the Northeast.

RNBA Models

FORLIS rekindles ‘Rambou’, a tribal forest conservation method. By planting valuable native species, it restores forests, creates income for communities, especially youth, while safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem benefits.

SALT is a sustainable farming technique that uses hedgerows to protect sloping lands. Originating in the Philippines, RNBA adapted it for Northeast India. Overcoming early challenges, RNBA now expands SALT model and enhance farmers’ income.

RNBA upgraded government school through community effort. Enrollment surged with strong leadership and local partnership. This success proves government schools can thrive with community ownership.

Do No Harm prevents aid from fueling conflict. RNBA uses this to foster peace in Manipur. By analyzing potential negative impacts, the framework offers guidance for effective aid delivery in complex situations.
